The Concierge Family and Downton Abbey Sisters- the Same
By | October 6, 2015

We can learn much about 21st century Concierge families from the PBS series Downton Abbey.
21st century Concierge families accept little responsibility for their actions and all tend to blame adult siblings and family when things go wrong, like Mary and Edith Crawley on 19th century Downton Abbey
Difficult families tend to blame the care manager or other institutions when the older adult’s situation deteriorates or when the older adult resists a plan.
Tom Branson , the former driver, is no care manager but he intervenes in the Crawley Family by marrying in and managing the estate then trying to get them to adapt the post World War I new reality of class and wealth to save the Dowtown Abbey.
These families easily find fault with services or staff, and they become critical or angry without trying to discuss, understand, or resolve the perceived problem. The staff on 19th century Downtown abbey is blamed for everything- The chief blamer is Mr. Carson the head butler .
Watch the next season, watch reruns and do learn how to market to and manage the concierge family from PBS’s well loved entitled family model.
