Do You Use Videos in Marketing Your Staff Safety With New Delta Variant?

September 2, 2021

Will you use videos to show your agency’s commitment to COVID safety with the new highly transmissible Delta variant ? Online video content continues explode in growth and according to a 2020 study. 84% of people say that they’ve been convinced to buy a product or service by watching a brand’s video.

Video can be a tool to add to your home care or geriatric care management  marketing plan to show the extreme safety protocols your GCM or homecare agency during the Delta variant Explosion of COVID19 to overcome adult children’s hesitation to use homecare and GCM services.

Why hesitation?

Older people still account for most Covid-19 deaths, and in many counties in the US, especially in the South and Mountain West, seniors without full vaccination make up more than 10 percent of the total population.

Even though the majority of seniors have been vaccinated, they now need a booster shot to prevent breakthrough infection from the Delta variant. This will only surge as the coming fall & winter makes everyone stay in the more risky indoors

So aging families remain very nervous about your agency coming into a senior home.

What families look for in your agency is  assurance of your staff’s safety- the care providers, care managers, and office staff’s vaccination rate, your safety protocols, PPE equipment use, and evidence that you work with your local department of health, state  and CDC to stay compliant.

As US clients are using  services like care managers and home care again, it is critical that you build that trust by showing customers you are totally CDC  safe. It is also important that you position your agency ahead of your local competition and that can be achieved through video. That can be achieved through using video video when your competition does not.

Videos are the new  powerful  Marketing Tool

The importance of video marketing shows in its growth to a $135 billion industry. Brands everywhere are realizing the value of video and creating them. According to ALCA’s marketing guru Courtney Pulitzer,75 million people watch videos every day and stunning viewers retain 95% of the message while watching compared to only 10 %-of reading text.

Use Videos in your own Care Management Marketing

Show your community your agency’s excellent safety through videos, done with a phone by a talented staff member. Take the example of Lifespan a 35-year-old geriatric care management home care agency that provides Quality of Life activities and adds videos about  Lifespan‘s Well Being Program. They upload them to their YouTube channel another great way they build trust with their agency. Market safety from Covid-19.

Videos are not hard to make

You just need a smartphone tripod and a person to do the videoing. I have a YouTube Channel on Geriatric Care Management for years. I made most of them with an I phone.

However , I have gotten much more sophisticated and now two a videographers . An excellent one is Tapfilms , also used by Lifespan. A second is

East Coast Studios  that does all my on-line classes in geriatric care management.

If you belong to the Aging Life Care Asso ( ALCA) use their excellent video marketing resources

Critical Success Factor for Start Up Care Management Aging- Serve Top 10%

August 2, 2021

Your customers need to be in the top 10% economically and here’s why. That is how you will make money, stay solvent and thrive. To start a Geriatric Care Management business PLUS to write a major section of your GCM business plan, you must describe the customers you intend to serve -your market assessment or opportunity. That tells you and investors whether you will have enough customers to make money. The Concierge Client who is in the top 10% financially is your client.  Start your business plan and your intention to make money, with a definition of your ideal client. Example: Woman, 85 years old with chronic care needs who has an income or liquid assets of $500,000 or more.

Upper 10% Customer Needs to be Your Mission and Intention- Why?

You want to list the customers who will reward you the most financially. This has to be in your mission and deeply in your mind. The “Why” is Medicare does not cover geriatric care management which is about expensive as a plumber or more critically – home care-at $4000-6000 a month -as expensive as the average closing cost on a home PER MONTH. Only the top 10% can afford that. So, make this your mental intention because you are running a business whose very blood is cash flow. Without the profit motive and profit, your new business stands a major chance of failure

Ideal Clients and Third-Parties You Need for Success

How many of these ideal clients are in the area you wish to serve? You need to do an analysis of the age and income levels. Generally, geriatric care management customers are over age 85 or are disabled younger people with incomes in the range of the top 10% in your community. One gateway to your customers is the local overstressed adult children of clients, long-distance caregivers with family members who need help and live in your community, Another door is third parties, such as trust officers, attorneys, conservators, or guardians, who refer you to their elderly clients or adult children, as a trusted GCM’s,

If You Want To Start an Aging Life or Geriatric Care Management Business you need to know you can make money before you start.

You need to do market research to define the size of the market in the area where your business will be located (e.g., how many people over age 85 live in Modesto, California, how many third-party target markets such as trust departments are in the town?). This type of demographic information may be available from U.S. Census Bureau reports local Area Agencies on Aging, local chambers of commerce, local hospitals, and even members of the local media who have done their own surveys. You can use the Internet to retrieve U.S. Census data in your area, and in addition, you can Google your State Department of Aging, find your local Department of Aging, and then find all senior services that may have data on older people in your area.

You Need To Understand Billing and Cash Flow for Success

You also need to know about billing. You might be making good money but if your cash flow is not coming in to pay your bills and staff, you stand a new chance of failure. Care managers who are most often social workers and nurses, often have an ethical dilemma with billing and are filled with guilt. That guilt keeps them from billing every hour and leaving time billed off their timesheet to help a client. This leaves them hurting their business and their bottom line over the short term – not being able to pay their bills and themselves each month. If this continues long term- the GCM is faced finally, like a slowly dying tree in a drought , death by bankruptcy.

Biden Care Infastructure Bill Includes M edicare Dental, Vision & Hearing

July 18, 2021

Who Knows Care Infrastructure Is Important?

I believe my readers, being geriatric care manager nurses, social workers, know why the caregiver infrastructure is important. But the republican Senate and House do not>

Care Fuels’ Our Economy

Despite overwhelming evidence that care fuels our economy and that American families desperately need this help, care has somehow been tagged as “social” or “human” infrastructure and been omitted from the bipartisan infrastructure agreement.

Medicare To Cover Dental, Hearing Vision in Care Economy

But a new bill Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said late Tuesday the Budget Committee’s $3.5 trillion plan would include a historic expansion of Medicare to cover hearing, dental and vision care for the first time.

Although there’s no certainty that everything in the budget blueprint will make it through the full congressional process , Medicare advocates are hopeful that coverage of the extra benefits will come to fruition.

They’d also like to make permanent expanded marketplace subsidies and find a way to get Medicaid to low-income people in a handful of GOP-led states that still refuse to expand the program.

Some of this could be paid for by including a provision allowing the federal government to directly negotiate lower prices for drugs in the Medicare program — a provision that would actually save the government $345 billion, according to the CBO.

Is That Infrastructure Says the Republicans?

Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union”

“One of the areas that I am working on right now is the need to expand Medicare in order to provide dental care and hearing aids and eyeglasses for millions and millions of seniors who need these services but can’t afford it.”

“Is that infrastructure? I think it is,” he added.

“Look, Jake, the truth is, in so many ways, we are behind many other countries throughout the world in providing for working families and the elderly and the children. And I think now is the time to begin addressing our physical infrastructure and our human infrastructure. I want to see that happen as soon as possible.”

Call Write Go To Meet Your Congressman

Care may wait a long time if folks in health care and older constituents do not contact their congressman and tell them to support this bill. They control the votes for the bill and you have to let them know you will only vote for them if they do. Common Cause has this easy way to find and contact your congressman  If you believe in Medicare and senior’s right to to not have their teeth rot, not hear their grandkids or be unable to read a book- do it now

Inheritance Morphs Nearly Normal Family Into Dysfunctional Family

December 17, 2014

Dys-fam90264_CH22_FIG02.jpg

NPR’s “On Point” featured a show yesterday opening the underbelly of inheritance. It can make an aging parent’s financial legacy turn a nearly normal family into a split up, ” never talk to you again” dysfunctional family. Like every dysfunctional family, they pass this poison on the next generation. The second generation becomes the Capulet’s and Montague’s, wringing all the money out of the legacy and with it, a chance of buying homes and paying for college.

In this NPR segment” Black Heirlooms” Romeo and Juliet are black. Listen to this eye opening lense is on the black aging family and how they are even more doomed to be shattered forever.
