Spotting Old Family Dysfunction and Bad Family Caregivers

A geriatric assessment using a genogram for aging family will help you assess whether any extended family and friends will make suitable and  emotionally appropriate  caregivers or on the flip side poor careproviders. For example if a son has a historically strained relationship with his father, is he the good choice as a caregiver?  The genogram will help to assess this old family tension  and help the GCM  make a decision with the family as to who can really be a good caregiver..  A geogram can be used for the entire life cycle and does help you see the past family relationships to decide who would be the best care providers in the present  family system.
