A good geriatric care manager can prevent an elder move. She or he is Wonder Woman ( or man ).If the older person needs repairs to his home, GCM’s work with the continuum of care in their community. They will know senior resources from skilled bonded contractors and programs that help finance home modification .

A professional GCM has resources in their database including agencies that provide meal preparation, home care, and ADL deficits, plumbers. For example, if the senior’s home needs home modification  because the bathroom shower is not wheelchair accessible or they need a ramp, certified  GCM can find a bonded contractor to do the work. They  can also refer clients into home modification programs through HUD  or state home modification programs.

They can save the day, like Wonder Woman with their skills and expertise. GCM’s cannot fly but on the holidays, when you think Mom needs a new place, you can keep her at home and let her age in place – like a powerful  super heroine or hero.
