Do You the Have Business Skills to Run a ALCA or GCM Agency ? Watch This Video

March 23, 2021

You chose to Start A Business

You need clinical skills to start and run an aging life or geriatric care management agency but you must have business skills as well- It IS A Business.

Geriatric care managers need to understand revenue- how they make money to be financially to make a profit. Revenue does come from billing – but poor billing is very unprofitable billing. Money-losing billing is anything less than 85% of your client’s time. When you bill less than 85% you actually start losing money. Revenue is the high tide of money and is calculated by the number of clients you serve, new clients per month, number of clients canceling service. % of the time billed (the goal is 85%) and what you charge for travel time.

Competition Survey Mandatory To Start A Business

You need to know how to do a competition survey to measure whether you have too much competition and what your competitors offer so you can offer more and be chosen. You should also identify and survey other direct GCM competitors like the non-profit area agency on aging which may have a GCM arm or for-profits like accountants or elder law attorneys who include geriatric care management in their service mix.

How Do You Brand Geriatric Care Management?

October 10, 2020

Branding is one of the most important parts of your marketing plan.

Do You understand how to create one for your company? Successful companies like Coca-Cola, Kleenex, and Band-Aid have one important thing in common: a strong brand. In fact, their brand names have become generic terms for all similar products in their niche. If you cut yourself, do you ask for a bandage or a Band-Aid? They are the ultimate brands. They have gone into the lexicon.

Geriatric Care Management and Aging Life are not so lucky.

What is a brand? – A brand is made in the mind, not manufactured in a plant” Understanding branding and how it significant it is to your GCM- start-up can mean success for your for profit’s geriatric care management business. Geriatric care management is not a well know brand nor is the new brand ALCA after 35 years. So your company has to do everything it can to get your own brand known in the area you serve. How? Although often associated with just advertising, your own branding is essential to everything your company puts in front of current and potential clients: business cards, brochures, web site, trade show booths, letterheads, e-newsletter, and so forth.

Branding Is About Managing People’s Image of Your Agency

You need to make sure that the image is one that is in line with your company values and the benefits your company provides. With geriatric care management that is about concierge care as you can only deliver services to the upper 10%.By taking the time to manage expectations and build positive gut feelings about your company, you establish yourself as a trusted leader in your market.

Your brand identity is built upon your key messages

Your messages are about the unique customer benefits that you provide, and the expectations you set for your target audience.

By consistently delivering the same symbols, messages, and design, you are reinforcing those messages, creating a link to your brand, and building an identity for your business that people will remember.

HOW TO MARKET YOUR TELEHEALTH SERVICE With An E- NEWSLETTER

September 23, 2020

How do you market a COVID-19 telehealth service?

The best way during the pandemic that rages this fall is to sell your coronavirus coaching products or other services is  in an email marketing marketing campaign using an e-newsletter format in Constant Contact  or Survey Monkey  other choices

This will boost the clients you can serve, as COVID has made adult children and elderly clients hesitant about having visitors come to their homes, exposing them to the virus. You can do the intake via telehealth and continue the services if they decide to become a client if you have taken the CDC safety precautions for visiting and or rendering care to the older person

Other Ideas to Add to your e-newsletter about COVID

  • Local information about home food delivery from local grocery stores used by                   seniors or designated shoppers as elders should not even get out and shop
  • Since large gatherings are dangerous in COVID-19-, information about accessing religious services streamed broadcast of TV or radio with the holiday season on Jewish New Year beginning the season last week – and stretching to Christmas.

Include Videos in your e-newsletter like this terrific e-newsletter that Lifespan, a care management agency in Santa Cruz, Ca. uses introducing their staff products and services during COVID.

OFFER Quality of Life activities that your agency or another agency like Well-Being offered by Lifespan which  provides 1-1-activies done with all COVID safety pecautions for seniors who are even more isolated, lonely, and depressed during the pandemic.

  • Recommend A COVID-19Home From the Hospital or Move Management product/service if you have one, to help families deal with discharge from hospitals after COVID -19 and not end up back in the hospital and or can move to a safer place to recover like their long-distance relative.
  • Tell a story with the COVID products you want to advertise
  • Use your i phone to record your video

  • Include a list of great reasons that a client or customer should work with an ALCA or Geriatric Care Manager during the Coronavirus pandemic. ALCA members get this in a flyer “Why Work With An ALCA Member During A Crisis “.The Aging Life Care Association has huge resources for dealing with coronavirus impact on geriatric care management. This makes joining ALCA now a great idea in this lethal pandemic and its deadly effect.
