The “Pull” to move can be getting ahead of gradual disability.Few people. unfortunately do this. This relocation is made by an older person who anticipates gradual disability in aging. They are preemptive movers. These far sighted elders shop around for places to move like a long-term care community that offers three levels of support. These are pre-planners who really see the future and want to move at their own rate without a crisis pushing them
These three levels include (1) independent living in a private apartment, (2) assisted living, where help with many activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental ADLs (IADLs) is available, and (3) skilled nursing, where, in addition to assistance with ADLs and IADLs, the older adult receives care for any health condition that requires skilled nursing care.
When you visit your aging parents during Thanksgiving you might ask them if they have considered moving before they have a crisis. If not you have set the seed to think about this , if aging in place is not the best choice for them.
