Trump projected budget for 2019 will slash or kill- by a thousand cuts-coverage for Medicare and Medicare Recipients.
Drugs prices that he promised to negotiate with the Pharma’s ( which the VA did years again which is why meds are so reasonable for the VA)- will not be negotiated.
He will still try to kill the Accountable Care through. It proposes 237 Billion cuts in Medicare. tax credits that help most Obamacare customers purchase health insurance coverage would be eliminated.
Even though he promised to protect Medicare, the Trump proposed Budget would make $554 billion cuts over 10 years—in part to offset the $1.4 trillion in tax cuts he and the GOP gave away largely to corporations and the rich this year. The proposal says it would do this “without harming beneficiaries’ access to care or altering covered items and services,” but instead by eliminating federal waste, and by changing what is known as the “doughnut hole” in prescription drug plans. “Far fewer people would reach the catastrophic phase, where they pay 5 percent of the drug cost—and where Medicare is on the hook for 80 percent,” reports The Washington Post
In their place, the federal government would give states health-care grants that the states then would have the option of using to subsidize the purchase of insurance by customers on the individual insurance market.
In another echo of Graham-Cassidy, the new budget proposal also would seek a rollback of Obamacare’s expansion of Medicaid benefits to poor adults. Medicaid offers health coverage to primarily low-income people. Before Obamacare, most states either denied Medicaid coverage to people who did not have dependent children or set very low limits on how much a person could earn and still qualify for coverage. This eventually could lead to seniors in nursing home under Medicare. Will they be on the streets if there is no coverage
The Trump administration announced it would be spending 90% less for open in the ACA .So, helping people enroll in this program would be cut leaving them on their own with less time to negotiate a difficult application
The irony is that overall 53% of voters over 65 older people supported Trump in 2016.
What have they wrought for themselves?
