Charging fees in exchange for services remains one of the most difficult challenges in developing for profit care management in an non-profit business.The mission of most non profits is to provide for the underserved. Charging for services has been considered against that mission .
The reluctance to charge for services stems from traditional attitudes that the non profit’s sector’s mission is to provide access to those who are unable to pay for services or goods because of need, status, condition, location, race, ethnicity religion or others barriers to needed services or goods. But decreasing opportunities to acquire public dollars and private donations for direct care have led more non- profits to generate revenues through fees. There is the rub.
