What is your Box of Marketing Tools? Do you know how to market GCM?

                 Few care managers take a GCM Business Class which is a necessary step. One thing you learn is marketing.

  • ·  The classic four Ps of marketing (product, price, place, and promotion) have been updated for the 21st century to include the four As as well as the four A’s and 4 C’s 

    ·  Accountability: Marketing must prove its contribution to the business and be accountable for measurable results; that is, new clients.

    · 

    ·  ·      Analysis: Marketing requires both art and science, and analysis must no longer be

    an afterthought. Instead, measurable results will drive strategy; that is, if it works, do more of it.

    ·  ·      Accuracy: Performance metrics must be consistently and accurately measured across all marketing initiatives; that is, tracking results.

How Catchy Copy Can Sign Up New Long Distance GCM Clients

GCM as Wonder Woman

Care managers need to create a gold-standard written copy to advertise their services to ling distance customers. However, you need a Wonder Woman spin that will make copy stand out from your competition.

Here is a sample you may use for long-distance care providers

1, “If you are a long-distance family care provider for an elder, give yourself Wonder Woman as a  powerful sister to help with the care of your aging family member.

2. Using a gold standard care manager is a preventative, prudent excellent choice for 3 reasons.

  • a. If you live long distance and there is an aging parent crisis,  your safest choice is to have a local GCM  to solve it. In an urgent situation, the care manager can go to the hospital or emergency room.
  • b. This is more cost-effective than you getting on last-minute, expensive flights. You can still go but, like Wonder Woman, they can immediately be there to deal with the crisis and solve it. She is good insurance.
  • c. Before any crisis, you can have the GCM aka Wonder Woman will do an initial assessment and visit your older relative periodically. This is preventative because Wonder Woman can see and solve the problem before it becomes a health crisis that might put your loved one in the hospital.
  • 3. Think of a care manager the way you do one of those blow-up beds. You can pump them up when you need in a crisis—perhaps avoid that crisis, and you yourself can sleep more soundly and with more peace of mind in your own bed.

5. What a geriatric care manager aka Wonder Woman and Superman can do for you are:

  • Save you money by helping keep your parent out of the hospital and you off emergency long-distance flights.
  • Facilitate a family discussion of needs, resources, and division of labor among friends family
  • Recommend ways to proactively prepare and plan for a parent’s possible health care crisis.
  • Work on family cooperation to formulate a realistic parent-care plan.

    .
  • Assess the strengths and weaknesses of all of the potential caregivers
  • Help adult siblings resolve conflicts about care decisions.
  • Help siblings act together in the best interest of the parent
  • Decrease the tension between hometown and long distance siblings
  • Help the long-distance care provider deal with guilt and frustration that may result from their inability to provide more of the day-to-day care.
  • Locate  the highest quality aging resources in your aging parents’ area quickly and without you having to do it

How do to get speaking opportunities for your speaker’s bureau?
Use your CRM database ( make sure you have one). Add all women’s clubs and services clubs like Rotary, AAUW or Soroptimists International . All clubs look  for good speakers. Include the main contact which is usually the club president or program coordinator. These can be found on the web or through people you know.

Get Radio Interviews

You can extend the speech into a radio interview as well. Once you have booked some speeches, create a 1 pager and email to radio booker, explaining how well you could talk on this topic on the radio, for free radio time. Add all radio stations in your area and radio bookers to your CRM database and send the letter through that marketing database – to get more PR or free radio time.

Geriatric Care Management or ALCA you need to do 4 things

  1. Provide an excellent gold standard service
  2. Understand the inquiry and sales process
  3. Use Good PR
  4. Use the web smartly

PR or Public relations is a key marketing strategy for Geriatric care managers. What is it? Just what is says-

Marketing Strategy Business concept. The meeting at the white office table

building relationships between you and your GCM customers? It is also FREE stories about you and your agency for your agency, saving you lots of money.

Why PR? Because it is free, believable, gives you credibility and stature, helps build your business, gives you authority, read by a lot of people /customers and remembered.

There are paid marketing -the web, newspapers, sponsorships, etc. But if you do free PR you should put a Speakers Bureau in your Marketing /PR Toolbox.

One of the best PR tools you can use from your toolbox is a speaker’s bureau.

What is a Speakers Bureau in geriatric care management or Aging Life Business? Why has one? There are two marketing groups you have to attract- third parties like Elder law attorneys who can refer clients to you. The other is adult children and this group is hard to pinpoint. A speakers bureau gives the perfect PR tool to reach adult children a hard group to directly market to.

The Speaker’s Bureau is a series of ” Hot Topics” presented at women’s clubs, services clubs like the Rotary, family councils of facilities, etc. to draw potential clients like adult children or older clients

You create 4 Hot Topics, like “Mom Loved you Best-“ Working with Siblings over older Parent Care., “The Dutiful Daughter- How women can take care of themselves while being a caregiver.” ” Parent-Sweetheart Scams  – How to understand the undue influence and protect your aging parent from being scammed”

Tasha Beauchamp, an Aging life Care Webmaster, Research Scientist owner of Elder Pages Online, LLC  had this tip in an ALCA blog yesterday about in-person presentations 

“You provide enough information to demonstrate your expertise, but as someone mentioned already, not enough detail that you are giving away the store.  One way to get an insight into what people are interested in is to look at the top eldercare-related searches on Google. These were compiled by the Pew Internet Project:”
